About
We are a non-profit organization called P.A.R.P. (People Against Racial Profiling). Our organization tries to demote the passed aggressions from generation to generation about racial profiling. In our communities, it is very evident that in the day to day tasks various minorities are treated badley because of their race. For years many people of Middle Eastern desent have been judged because of their heritage. Accused of being terrorists, across the United States, is a result of the various attacks made on American soil by extremists. Some of whom are not even Middle Eastern. Children are taught to hate foreign immigrants/people through various ways. These ideas can be portrayed through parents, teachers, movies, television, and many more. In movies such as "Aladdin", Aladiin and Jasmine are depicted as Amerian-like and have American accents. "This is in contract to the other characters who are dark-skinned, swarthy and villainous-cruel palace guards or greedy merchants with Arabic accents and grotesque facial features" stated Marvin Wingfield on adc.com. Forms of racial profiling can be found in other places to such as Halloween stores where horrid looking Arab masks were sold. Sometimes no other races are portrayed. Comic books about Superman, the Fantastic Four, and Tarzan involve Middle Eastern bad guys. Video games give points to players for getting various kills on Arabian peoples. "Americans are entitled to the same constitutional protections as other Americans," Dick Durbin (the Democratic Assistant Senate Majority Leader) said, adding that this is an issue of "not just free exercise of religion but freedom of speech" (Middle East Online).
